Last night we started the North American coverage a bit early, since Emmanuel Goldstein from 2600.com was sending his programming Live from Berlin Mitte, we took the opportunity to synch up, and as it turns out he interviewed Mitch Altman (of TV-Be-Gone) via a link in our Bootlab studio, and spoke with crew from Mikro.fm for his WBAI program Off The Hook. This meant suddenly the voices from our micro? project were suddenly being transmitted to a NY audience from an antenna atop the Empire State Building ( though not detailed here in image above).
WBAI is the listener-sponsored community radio model in NYC which is one of the 5 stations in the Pacifica Network, which is where the now internationally recognized cutting-edge news program/network Democracy Now was born.
Tonight at midnight, Day 4 begins according to schedule with further reports from North America with interviews with Paul Griffin aka Capt. Fred from Berkeley Liberation Radio and founder of the Association of Micro Power Broadcasters. Also included will be a live chat with Chris Cook from Gorilla Radio produced at University of Victoria’s CFUV.
And many more projects discussed and relayed i.e. Pirate Cat in San Francisco, Freak Radio Santa Cruz, K.i.L.L. Radio in L.A. , etc.Also in the studio will be again Mitch Altman (Cornfield Electronics), who as it turns out has quite a long history with community radio in the US, Podski ( XLterrestrials and indymedia contributor), Jan (Berlin Freies Radio), and DJ Lynch Merrill from Media Decompression Berlin… possible visit from E. Goldstein … and… and…?? … the program seems to be a fluid mix, so we expect more surprises to come!
